Sheridan Street, Belfast

On 15th-16th April 1941, Sheridan Street, Belfast sustained damage during the Easter Raid of the Belfast Blitz. Several residents died as a result.

On the night of 15th-16th April 1941, Luftwaffe bombs fell on the New Lodge area of North Belfast. Sheridan Street ran parallel to the Antrim Road and sustained a great amount of damage. High explosive bombs completely destroyed nearby Burke Street.

Elderly sisters Sarah Addis and Mary Addis lived together in No. 23. Next door in No. 25 lived the Graham family. A total of 5 members of the Graham family as well as the Addis sisters died as a result of the bombing. Authorities declared the sisters missing and an inquiry into their presumed deaths took place in June 1941.
