Civilian James Christy was a fatal casualty of the Belfast Blitz during the Second World War. He lived with his wife Margaret Christy, and daughter Margaret Sylvia Christy at 17 Hogarth Street, Belfast at the time of the Luftwaffe attack on the city.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christy of Meadow Street, Belfast. James and Margaret married in Belfast on 3rd July 1935. James Christy died on 16th April 1941 aged 29 years old at Hogarth Street, Belfast. The family name is spelled “Christie” in the Belfast Telegraph issued on 18th April 1941. James Christy’s grave is in Carnmoney Cemetery, Carnmoney, Co. Antrim. A funeral service took place at 1000hrs on 19th April 1941 from 30 Fortwilliam Crescent, Belfast.
